Youth Support Coober Pedy
What the program offers
The aim of the program is to mentor children and young people in Coober Pedy who are, or may be at risk of becoming involved with the youth justice system through community activities.
The program is designed to enable youth to set goals and strengthen protective factors by engaging with mentors and youth focussed activities. Outcomes include:

Increased self esteem and confidence

Skills for avoiding risky behaviours/engaging in positive social behaviours

Increase in quality of relationships with peers, parents and other adults

Youth voice in the community

Decrease in youth involved in the youth justice system

Decrease in mental health issues (depression / self harming)

Increase in mental health and physical wellbeing (satisfaction, confidence, empowerment, healthy choices)
Partnerships include District Council of Coober Pedy, Uniting Care Wesley Country SA, Umoona Aged Care, DCSI Youth Justice and the Remote School Attendance Strategy. Self referrals and agency referrals welcomed.
Program funded by Department for Human Services.
